Why is my menu not displayed?
If you do not see the menu displayed on your site, here is the procedure to follow:
Check who can see the menu
Open the module’s Maintenance tab. When its maintenance mode is enabled, only IP addresses allowed in the PrestaShop maintenance settings can see the menu. If you can see it but your visitors cannot, check this setting; disable this mode when your configuration is ready to be visible.
In Menu configuration, check Active, Active on desktop and Active on mobile for the affected objects. For a missing item, work back through its entire hierarchy: item group, column and tab. Hiding a parent also hides its contents.
Check permissions for these same objects according to who is viewing the shop: a visitor who is not logged in, a logged-in customer or a customer group. A menu visible with your account may be hidden for another profile.
If a category link disappeared after that category was disabled in the catalogue, check its state in the menu too: the module disables entries linked to a disabled category.
- Clear the site and browser cache and try again.
- If this did not work, in the module configuration, go to the "General Settings" tab and look at the value of the "Menu position" option. This option allows you to define the location of the menu on the page. Depending on your version of PrestaShop, several locations, called "hooks" are available:
- Older versions for PrestaShop 1.6:
displayTopordisplayNav. Module version 1.17.0 requires PrestaShop 1.7.6 or later. - Other locations offered by your installation:
displayTop,displayNavFullWidth, or Widget for custom integration by your integrator.
The default is generally
displayNavFullWidth, but the module usesdisplayTopby default for Hummingbird. Check the value actually saved in your shop. The exact position of these hooks depends on the theme. A setting’s name does not guarantee the same visual location in every shop.Once you have this value, make sure that your theme offers this hook. Indeed, as your menu is "grafted" to this location, if your theme doesn't propose it, the menu cannot appear.
If the menu is visible but disrupts the page layout, check Activate theme compatibility mode with your integrator. Its usefulness depends on the theme; it does not replace checking the hook.
