How do I import and export expressions with CSV?

The CSV Import/Export tab lets you add expressions from a file and export their settings. The export contains expressions, not group configuration, so it does not recreate groups in another shop.

Prepare the file

  1. Download the example file from this tab. If you are changing an existing setup, also export your expressions first.
  2. Create the required groups in the destination shop and check their IDs and the language IDs. If you are transferring an export from another shop, adapt these IDs and the destination URLs.
  3. Keep the names and order of the nine template columns, separated by semicolons. Keep one header row and one row per expression.
id_group;id_lang;expression_content;associated_url;url_title;nofollow;new_window;link_position;active

Each row must specify an existing group and language, the expression to find, the full destination URL and a link title of no more than 100 characters.

If these four options are left empty as in the example, the defaults are: nofollow disabled, same tab, first occurrence and expression enabled. Keep the separators for empty cells.

Add or replace expressions

Import adds expressions; it does not update existing expressions by an ID. Duplicates may be rejected.

To add expressions, leave Delete all previous expressions disabled. To deliberately replace expressions in the current scope, keep an export first, then enable this option. In multistore mode, check the selected context and associated groups: expressions attached to a shared group may serve several shops.

Deletion happens before the file rows are validated. A rejected file does not restore deleted expressions. This replacement is therefore more than an update of matching rows.

  1. Select the CSV file and click Import.
  2. Review the number of imported expressions and any errors. Some rows may be added while others are rejected; check the list before importing again to avoid duplicates.
  3. Once you have checked the result, optimize the relevant content again, then check a few shop pages.
